2002 Lexus RX300: Should i Replace Timing belt?

The vehicle is second hand, very less used, belt is 8 years old,but vehicle runs/drives fine with 40,000 miles.

Inspection is necessary.

The rubber on the timing belt is much harder and more durable than your average rubber drive belts. Only being 8 years old and low mileage I don't think you're in any danger of the timing belt breaking. I on the other hand would not wait to 90,000 miles I would probably do it somewhere between 60,000 and 80,000 miles.

The only way to find out if the belt is cracked or looks to be aged would be to remove the upper timing cover. This is not real difficult and you can actually unbolt the front side of it in about 10 or 15 min. and pull it back to take a peek at the belt. You will see the obvious 10 mm bolts around the top of the plastic cover.

This details will help.
Thanks.
